Lives and works in London, England
—
Long periods of isolation since March 2020 have heightened my awareness of otherwise inconsequential phenomena within my domestic context. A willingness to accept these fugitive observations (as potentially significant) was bolstered by encountering Gaston Bachelard’s ‘The Poetics of Space’. Fleeting observations of refracted light, seemed to align with a sustained interest in the uncanny. The surfaces of my recent works are stitched together from remnants, each area acting as a qualifier for its neighbour. Incorporating hand-felted wool, image-transfer photography and industrially produced fabrics, these images allude to established conventions of abstract painting, while rejecting any dependencies on the autographic mark.
