Lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota
I want to capture the excitement of an aesthetic climax and am interested in making paintings not limited to paint. I interact with everyday materials in a painterly way and resist typical forms these materials might take, hoping to mirror the abstract painting tradition of shirking representation. Liberating both usefulness and likeness from painting invites a sense of joy and newness that I find spiritual and cathartic. My inward map is blurry and disorienting, but I find strength and calm in my process and trust in my destination. The art is released from the materiality that seeks to confine it.
I am a mixed media artist living in Minneapolis. In 2007 I received a BFA from SAIC where I was awarded an Odyssey Travel Grant and multiple talent grants from both SAIC and Montserrat CoA. I've been a finalist for the MSAB Artist Initiative Grant and am presently shortlisted for an issue of New American Paintings. I have work in private collections in the US and Europe and show with Hair and Nails Gallery in Minneapolis. I've taught continuing ed painting and printmaking classes at MCAD, produced reality television in NYC, and am currently a freelance content creator and videographer.
