Lives and works in Seoul, Korea
—
Since the Industrial Revolution, the politics, society, and culture of Asian countries were briskly restructured into the wave of westernization.
Today, Korea also lives in a social structure where tradition overlays on the exterior of westernization.
The theme of this work, 'Coagulated Time', was designed to observe the past, present, and future of overlying cultures through the heterogeneous permutation of tradition and westernization.
'Coagulated Time' visually expresses overlying cultures by heterogeneously coalescing traditional and western symbolic elements through the paper collage technique.
'Coagulated Time', a series of works, combines the 'Korean traditional hat', a symbol of the Joseon Dynasty, and modern fashion elements to reveal the cross-section of two cultures that overlap.
